From the desk of Rachel Wohlander,
Thank you for taking the time to peruse my portfolio. Since moving to NYC in 2008 I have been working as an independent director and producer of experimental, site-specific, interactive projects, with a special interest in multimedia and cross-disciplinary collaboration, and multicultural folklore and mythology. I am especially interested in exploring the essential contradictions of existence- alienation and connection, absurdity and meaning, individuality and unity. I have been directing all my life- growing up, I organized the neighborhood kids into a performance troupe. Later I emphasized in directing and playwriting at the University of California Santa Barbara's esteemed theater department and went on to assistant direct and stage manage for some of the finest directors in San Diego and Los Angeles.
